The cardiologist said to get some exercise so I started running on the County road at the end of our driveway, and with the help of some experienced friends, I got serious. </p> <p> My good friends Mary Lou Pentasuglio and Bruce Ward, who are ultra marathon and Hawaii Ironman athletes, coached me on the finer points of endurance running and by May 2008 I ran my first Marathon here in Buena Vista, the <a href="http://www.collegiatepeakstrailrun.org/Page.aspx?PageID=3419" target="_blank"><span style="color: #cc0033">Collegiate Peaks Trail Run</span>.</a> The course starts in Buena Vista, just 4 miles from Las Manos B&B, and goes up into the Fourmile area, on trails and jeep roads with exceptional views of the Collegiate Peaks. I completed the run in 5:56 and was delighted to finish....Las Manos is just off the picture to the right. </p> <p> <img src="images/CollegiatePeaks-2010-25Mile.jpg" alt="cptr aerial" style="width: 250px; height: 169px" height="169" width="250" /> <br /> </p> </td> <td> </td> </tr> <tr> <td> <p> I was very sore and tired after that first run, but I knew I was hooked so I signed up for the <span style="color: #cc0033"><a href="http://www.leadvilletrail100.com/lt100races/LeadvilleTrailMarathon/overview.aspx" target="_blank"></a><a href="http://www.leadvilletrail100.com/lt100races/LeadvilleTrailMarathon/overview.aspx" target="_blank">Leadville Marathon</a><a href="http://www.leadvilletrail100.com/lt100races/LeadvilleTrailMarathon/overview.aspx" target="_blank"> </a></span> in July 2008.
