Being Green Every Day

Once we built Las Manos as a green building, we have chosen to run it as a Green business as well.

NO HARSH CHEMICALS

We’re fussy about things like chemical sensitivities, so we do not allow pets, and we don’t use detergents with additives, nor chemicals like dryer sheets and air fresheners. In fact we dry all of our linens and clothes outside. Our sheets and towels are 100% cotton, and we don’t have carpets, just a few throw rugs as needed. We also use environmentally friendly cleaners wherever possible…we wash our windows with vinegar and water.

FRESH AIR

Fresh air is a big thing with Las Manos, so every room has green plants and openable windows that let in lots of Colorado mountain air.

NO DISPOSABLES

We don’t use disposable items, even for a box lunch…we always use re-usables like Tupperware and real cutlery.

ORGANIC PRODUCE

Even though we’re away from the big city, we have a local store which supplies us with organic fruit and vegetables daily, all year. When in season, we also purchase locally grown produce, such as Rocky Ford melons, Olathe corn and Palisade peaches.

RE-USE

A newer part of the recycling program is what happens to sheets and towels when we’re done with them. We donate them all to a local thrift store and that keeps them in service and out of the landfill.
